Forgotten Voices: Poor Farms in Kings County

June 13 @ 2:00 pm4:00 pm
We are excited to announce that the exhibition “Forgotten Voices: Poor Farms in Kings County” will officially open at the Kings County Museum on Saturday, June 13th! To mark the opening, Kings County Museum curator, Kaleigh Weickert, will be giving a public talk about the history of poor farms in Nova Scotia as well as the research process behind her “poor farms” project funded by the Provincial Archives Development Program. After many hours spent rooting through archives, sifting through historic documents, and traveling to local historic sites, “Forgotten Voices: Poor Farms in Kings County” is finally ready to open to the public. Kaleigh will also share some of the stories she has uncovered along the way. Afterwards, guests are invited to stay for a social hour to mingle, share stories and memories, and explore the exhibition.
2-4pm at the Kings County Museum
Donations to the Kings Historical Society who own and operate the museum are appreciated.
Old and and new members of the society are welcome to join us for an early “sneak peek” of the exhibit on May 26th following our 7:30PM Annual General Meeting.
