Education and Interpretive Assistant
The Education and Interpretive Assistant supports the Kings County Museum’s educational, public, and interpretive programming. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and overseeing educational programming for a variety of age groups, giving tours, arranging public programming, assisting with events, and communicating with external organizations to arrange partnerships and donations. The successful candidate may also complete some administrative tasks in the Main office such as processing purchases and donations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Education
- Plans educational activities for various age groups
- Assists with the development of workshops and educational programming
- Works to develop new partnerships with local organizations
- Oversees educational events and offers support when not directly facilitating
- Helps to plan future educational projects and events
Interpretation
- Develops interpretation script for current exhibits
- Provides tours to visitors
- Answers questions and helps visitors while they are at the museum
- Works with staff to plan exhibit related events and workshops
Programming
- Works with staff to plan and coordinate public programming for a variety of age groups
- Facilitates programming
Education
- Develops and facilitates educational programming for children and adults
- Works to develop NovaMuse Ed activities
Successful Candidate will:
- Be comfortable in a public setting and working with the public
- Have Strong organizational skills
- Have strong interpersonal skills

Office Assistant
The office Assistant supports the Office Manager in daily administrative tasks at the Kings County Museum, such as processing donations, answering the phone, and assisting visitors when they enter the museum. The successful candidate will also help with public relations, fundraising, events, as required by the Office Manager. The successful candidate will also be tasked with developing social media posts and developing content for the Kings County Museum’s website. Other office-oriented projects may be assigned as required.

Office Duties
- Answering telephones
- Writing letters
- Processing donations
- Logging information in Excel workbooks
Fundraising
- Write letters requesting funding
- Attend events and assist museum staff and volunteers
- Write letters thanking contributors and supporters
- Help to develop relationships with various community groups
Social Media
- Develop posts for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
- Develop content to be published on museum website
- Help to develop online presence strategy
The successful Candidate will
- Have a high interest in research, especially in community and family history
- Have strong skills in research and writing
