Brush with Nature is a cross-promotional event that serves to showcase the work of plein air artists while raising money for the King’s County Museum.
This event directly supports the work of the cultural community, as proceeds from art sales, auctions, and draws will be shared between the artist and the museum. And it indirectly benefits our local economies by celebrating the local landscapes and attractions.
Artists at any level are invited to register with Brush with Nature. It’s an opportunity to discover and then paint/sketch your favorite corners of King’s County. Artwork is to be done “en plein air”; that is, outdoors, on location, and in any medium (oils, acrylics, watercolour, pastels, inks, graphite, etc.). Artists are divided into two groups (Professional Level and Open Level).
Artists who register for Brush with Nature can, optionally, choose to participate in the Long Brush and/or the Short Brush (aka Quickdraw). Identify your work(s) on the back: Artist’s Name, Title, Geographic Location, Date of Painting, Medium, Selling Price, and Contact Information.
Part 1 Long Brush: 1st-18th August 2022
Over these eighteen days, registered artists can pick one or more locations within King’s County to paint/sketch. You can submit a plein air artwork for hanging anytime between 11-18th August 2022 to the King’s County Museum in Kentville. All works must be “hang-ready” by the artist. Sales are handled by the Museum.
Part 2 Short Brush: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Saturday 20th August 2022
Artists are to paint/sketch at the Miner’s Marsh for this one-day event.
All artwork from both the Long Brush and Short Brush challenges will be on display Saturday 20th August at the Museum and Miner’s Marsh (weather permitting). Short Brush Artists display works on their easels/stands. Artists may donate work to help raise funds for the Museum.
