DESCRIPTION:Please join the Kings Historical Society and Four Seasons Fibre Group for the official opening of our exhibit; War Time Knitting: Remembrance and Recognition\, an initiative created and formed in recognition of the many Canadian men and women who served their country during WWII and the achievements of Canadian women who knit garments for the comfort of those enlisted. Exhibit features 31 hand knit items on loan from the Four Seasons Fibre Group . These items were made specifically for this exhibit using patterns from the Monarch Book of patterns published in 1941. Many pieces honour friends and family members. Also included will be selected items from the Kings County Museum Collection.

DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share a variety of artistic projects for your child to enjoy\, including numerous\nsensory-based crafts and activities. This 3-day program takes place on three consecutive\nWednesday afternoons from 1pm – 3pm: on July 27th\, August 3rd\, and August 10th\n.\nEach date has unique crafts and activities planned\, so your child can either attend a\nspecific activity that they are interested in\, or they can attend all three. Our guided activities\nmake it easy to follow instructions so kids can spend their time on the fun stuff. If your child\nprefers to work independently\, or if your child would like a little extra help\, we are happy to\naccommodate their needs.\nTo participate in a single session\, the sign-up and participation fee is $5.00 per child. To\nparticipate in all three sessions\, the sign-up and participation fee is $10.00. \nWednesday\, August 3rd\, 1pm – 3pm: Session 2\nSounds of Nature: Rain Sticks\nThis activity is a fun and creative way to make your own musical instrument. A rain stick is a bit like a shaker\, except when tilted\, it can sound just like rain falling! Traditional rain sticks not only make soothing sounds\, but they are also decorated beautifully. This workshop is all about exploring sound and art\, and to customize both the visual and auditory aspects of the craft. \n\nYou Better Ball-ieve it: Stress Balls \nA fast and easy – but super fun – sensory-based activity is our stress ball craft. These stress balls are as fun to make as they are to play with\, but they can also help with concentration. DESCRIPTION:And that’s wrap! If you haven’t yet seen the Brush With Nature exhibition\, time is running out. \nThe paint isn’t even dry on a few of the paintings\, and we are sad to say the show is drawing to a close on Aug. 31. \nEveryone here at the Kings County Museum is thrilled with this beautiful exhibition that is a celebration of the everyday wonders in Kings County. The exhibit is also a testament to the vision and talent of the artists who participated in the challenge earlier this month. \nThe works are diverse—oil\, acrylic\, watercolour and pen and ink– and rediscover the picturesque nooks and crannies of Kings County. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share a variety of artistic projects for your child to enjoy\, including numerous sensory-based crafts and activities. This 3-day program takes place on three consecutive Wednesday afternoons from 1pm – 3pm: on July 27th\, August 3rd\, and August 10th.\nEach date has unique crafts and activities planned\, so your child can either attend a specific activity that they are interested in\, or they can attend all three. Our guided activities make it easy to follow instructions so kids can spend their time on the fun stuff. If your child prefers to work independently\, or if your child would like a little extra help\, we are happy to accommodate their needs.\nTo participate in a single session\, the sign-up and participation fee is $5.00 per child. To participate in all three sessions\, the sign-up and participation fee is $10.00. \nWednesday\, July 27th\, 1pm – 3pm: Session 1\nAdoption Day: Rock Pet Painting\nOur first activity is a hands-on painting craft. We will be making Rock Pets\, which\ncould be anything from your child’s favourite animal to something made entirely\nfrom their imagination. If they would like to make more than one\, that is entirely\nfine too! Once we’ve completed painting\, each crafter gets to fill out an “adoption\ncertificate” for their new pets. \nFan-tastic Fruits: Fruit Slice Fans\nFor any fast crafters\, we have a secondary activity to keep them busy and having fun. We’ll be making fans from paper plates and popsicle sticks\, designing them to look just like a slice of watermelon\, orange\, apple\, or any kind of fruit they like best! Crafters can choose to make any puppet they would like: their favourite animals\, a person\, or even themselves! Whatever they choose to make\, they’ll surely bring their puppet to life with the variety of materials and supplies we have available. We’ll also prepare some designs that can be simply assembled\, customized\, as well as suggestions in case anyone wants some extra help. Once the puppets have been created\, crafters will complete a personality form to get to know their puppets better.
