SUMMARY:National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.\n \nThe day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools\, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.\n \nGather here with Carolyn Landry\, Lenley Melvin and Neenie Melvin as they lead us in a smudging ceremony\, 7 sacred teachings workshop and quiet conversation .\nDive deep into the heart of Indigenous wisdom with “The Seven Sacred Teachings with Carolyn Landry and Neenie Melvin. .\nCarolyn hails from NS and is a mother of three\, as well as a grandmother to eight. She is an entrepreneur\, cultural advisor\, and holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology from Acadia University. Despite her various roles and titles\, she does not allow them to define her identity. Her ultimate aspiration in life is to become the best person possible by following the Ancestral 7 Sacred Teachings.\nNeenie Melvin is sister to Carolyn and mother to Lenley Melvin.\nGather in conversation with Earth Keeper Lenley Melvin (Annapolis Valley First Nation/ The Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq) . Lenley reminds us that sharing knowledge is key to protecting all our relations—from the largest animals to the smallest pollinators. When we listen and learn from each other\, we build a future where everything thrives.\n\n \n
